Mobile Photography

The power to tell engaging stories and capture beautiful images is now in the palm of our hands. Our mobile devices are incredible pieces of technology, ever improving and often able to stand toe-to-toe with DSLRs and other consumer cameras.

I've been experimenting with mobile photography - shooting in Raw on my iPhone and using additional equipment such as mountable lenses to continually improve the image quality and boost the phones capabilities.

Below are a few example images of my work.

Client:
Fervor Clothing

Notes:
I shot this image on the iPhone 7+, using the native camera app and edited in Snapseed.

Fervor is a Cornwall based independent Surf / Skate brand, who hired me to shoot their Spring clothing  line. I wanted to go for a vintage, grainy, shot-on-film "look", that I feel best represents the brands visual tone.

Notes:
This image was shot on a recent trip to Paris.

I was shooting on the iPhone 7+ in Raw using the Moment app, with a Superfish Lens from Moment.

The image was edited in Snapseed.

Model:
Alice Mulholland

Notes:
I shot this image on the iPhone 7+, using the native camera app and edited in Snapseed.

This image was part of a test-shoot for a folk horror project. I wanted to envoke a 70s feel to the image, replicating the look / tone of horror films such as The Wicker Man and Blood on Satan's Claw.

Model:
Becky Jerams

Notes:
I shot this image on the iPhone 7+, using the native camera app and edited in Snapseed and VSCO.

I was hired to shoot portrait images of Becky who is a professional songwriter and Young Adult author. These images were used for promotional purposes for newly released work.

Testimonial

“Matthew’s work for our Spring collection truly captured the essence and ethos of Fervor and what we’re striving to achieve as an independent business. He went above and beyond the outlined brief, to create something that felt unique yet befitting of our style and brand."
